Dr. Carlo G. Castro, O.D.

Compassionate optometrist dedicated to personalized eye care for patients of all ages at Granite Pointe Eye Care, an Optometric Corporation.

Experience & Education

Dr. Carlo G. Castro earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley before receiving his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University.

Originally from Vacaville, California, Dr. Castro now calls nearby Roseville home, where he lives with his wife and two children. He enjoys serving the same community where his family has put down roots and values building lasting relationships with the patients he sees every day.

Dr. Castro chose optometry because of the positive experiences he had as a child during his annual eye exams. He remembers being fascinated by the technology, enjoying each visit, and appreciating the moment he could see clearly again. Today, he enjoys providing that same experience for others by helping patients achieve comfortable, healthy vision through thoughtful, individualized care.

Known for his compassionate approach, Dr. Castro believes one of the most important parts of an eye exam is listening. He takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns, enjoys solving complex eye and vision problems, and works closely with every individual to find solutions that fit their needs and lifestyle.

Get to Know Dr. Castro

Dr. Castro enjoys caring for patients from every age group and background. His goal is to create genuine connections so patients feel comfortable asking questions and actively participating in their eye health. He often reflects on being a student who simply wanted to help people, and he remains grateful that his profession allows him to make a meaningful difference in his patients’ everyday lives.

One lesson has stayed with him since childhood. His grandfather frequently reminded him to have his eyes examined every year and never to ignore flashes or floaters after losing vision in one eye from retinal detachment and glaucoma. That experience reinforced the importance of preventive eye care and continues to shape the conversations Dr. Castro has with patients about protecting their long-term vision.

Outside the office, Dr. Castro enjoys cycling, snowboarding, tennis, gaming, and occasionally performing magic. He also speaks Filipino (Tagalog), allowing him to connect with even more members of the local community.

What excites Dr. Castro most about Granite Pointe Eye Care is working alongside a team that shares his commitment to treating every patient with kindness, efficiency, and genuine hospitality. Combined with advanced technology, including Optomap imaging, OCT, myopia management therapies, and IPL-based dry eye treatments, the practice allows him to provide comprehensive care that patients can rely on for both their vision and eye health.
