Dr. John M. Okamoto

Experience & Education

Dr. Okamoto earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, before graduating with his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University. He then completed his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, focusing on ocular diseases and hospital-based optometry. Dr. Okamoto also worked at an ophthalmology practice for a decade. He specializes in treating dry eye patients and those needing specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Okamoto has over 30 years of experience practicing his compassionate eye care in the Sacramento Valley, and prides himself on staying up to date on the newest and most technologically advanced treatments in the industry today to deliver the best care to his patients.

Get to Know

Dr. Okamoto founded Granite Pointe Eye Care because he wanted to get to know patients on a personal level and truly understand their needs so he can deliver rock-solid care. He is grateful for the opportunity to help keep his patients’ vision crystal-clear and to work with such a grounded and talented group at Granite Pointe Eye Care.

Outside of the office, Dr. Okamoto publishes articles in medical journals, stays current on the latest industry developments, and keeps active within the Roseville community. When he’s not taking care of his patients, he enjoys spending time with his family and loves golfing, fishing, and cycling outdoors.
